Geothermal energy, as the name implies, refers to energy generated and stored in the earth. Below the earth’s surface, the temperature is much more regulated and remains warmer in winter and cooler in summer. In the last century, industrialization has begun to tap into this type of energy production for commercial applications.
Historically, areas near tectonic plate boundaries were the only places we could utilize this type of resource. However, modern innovations in technology have allowed us to use geothermal energy on a much more widespread basis, for both residential and commercial buildings. Geothermal power is cost-effective, renewable, environmentally sustainable, and provides an excellent alternative to traditional energy sources for commercial utilities.
