As we ring in the New Year, there is a sense of excitement and anticipation—a feeling of renewed vigor for the year ahead. For many, it means New Year resolutions and the attempt to make life better, not just for ourselves but also for our planet.
However, a resolution should be accompanied by a true desire for change. It’s not something that can only be present in our lives for a short time—to work, it must become an integral part of our daily lives to ensure long lasting results.
Thus, it’s no coincidence that the year has begun with a new outlook on the environment. Over the past year, environmental issues have driven business and innovation and have brought the world together on the global stage to make changes in how we live, and in the process becoming a divisive topic amongst political parties. Whatever the effect, there is one constant that remains—we must continually change, adapt and innovate to ensure we keep our beautiful planet thriving.
It is for this reason that we look forward to 2016, and it is for this reason that we have included the articles in this issue of DesignBuild Magazine—to show new and innovative ways that will ensure changes for the better this year, and in the years to come.
By making changes—significant ones to the buildings that we live and work in daily—we make a commitment to longevity, to ensuring we adapt our buildings and environments so that we impact our planet in positive ways today and in the future.
Happy New Year to everyone and may 2016 bring all that you hope for.
